All Things Must Pass

Pick up the Phone

If you ask 25 random people which day of the week is their least favorite, I’m willing to bet that 20 of them would say “Monday.” I get it, I really do. For me, though, Tuesday is the one where I feel the most behind. Which is all to say that I have things I gotta do, and that this topic and post is going to be a quick one.

It’s a time-sensitive one as well. If you want to see an end to plastic bags in Washington, now is the time to contact your State representative. Especially those of you who live on the Olympic Peninsula… your voices are needed now more than ever if this bill is going to get over the hump and become law. (If you know folks who live on the Peninsula and can forward this to them, please feel free to do so.)

The bill, SB 5323, is scheduled for an executive committee meeting tomorrow morning at 8:00am. (Washington Surfrider has set up an easy-peasy action alert that you can sign with just a few clicks.) Take a minute to call the toll-free legislative hotline at 800.562.6000 anytime between 8:00am and 7:00pm. You’ll be able to speak with someone who can deliver your message to both of your representatives for you. Be sure to say that you are calling to urge their support of SB 5323.

That’s it. That’s the only extra thing I’m suggesting you add to your day today. One’s enough, for a Tuesday. (But definitely do it.)
