Washington's San Juan Islands are beautiful from any angle but they look their finest when seen from the water. Stuart Island Light looks out over a very active stretch of water and across to Canada just a few short miles away.
The Kalakala is gone now... and she was mostly gone when this photo was taken. By the time she returned to Tacoma from exile in Alaska, Seattle and Neah Bay, it was already over. But they sure knew how to make dreams float back in those days, didn't they?
