Chasing Optimism

Well, there it is. Another year gone and a new one just underway, not entirely sure which way it’s going to go. But that’s how it is, right? Life is like a box of chocolates, or something like that.

For the Ikkatsu Project, it’s the usual mix of keeping good programs going while trying some new things that haven’t been done yet… I’m especially looking forward to the microplastics testing that will be part of the Olympic Discovery Trail excursion this spring, sampling the river crossings between Port Townsend and La Push. Same excitement for the stewardship dates that will be put together with Tacoma Metro Parks at various points during the year, getting people out and involved in cleanup and restoration work in their neighborhoods, making their communities cleaner and healthier. And the web site will be getting a bit more interactive soon, with testing results uploaded by schools and other groups that will be sharing their work throughout the Puyallup watershed (with the possibility of expansion later in the the year).

That’s a small part of what’s coming up… there’s always more. Instagram is a good place to keep up the day-to-day contact, so check that out from time to time, and keep an eye out for presentations as the year progresses, listed on the calendar on the home page. See you out there, on a beach somewhere!
