I just got back from Tennessee a few days ago. I was there to talk to a kayak dealer and rep summit about the work that the Ikkatsu Project has been doing in Alaska, and to introduce the “Decision” film for Werner Paddles. It was a blast from the past, talking about sea kayak symposia, community involvement and how kayaking can save lives, a lot like it felt when I was first getting into the sport back in the late 1980’s.
That’s the way it is though. Old ideas become new again with new minds and passions to drive them. It was good to be there but it is also good to be home.
