Good Work

The 6th Annual Tacoma Shoreline Survey is in the books. There has been an escalation in the number of beach cleanups in the area lately (a good thing, I would say), and the comparatively small debris count reflected that reality. Still, with a total of 410 pounds collected, much of it from beaches that have been cleaned at least once, maybe twice, this month, it is clear that more work is still needed.

Thanks to all who came out for the effort, to South Sound Surfrider and Tacoma Metro Parks, who dealt with the logistics of putting on the event and disposing of what was picked up. Congratulations to those participants who won prizes for the work they put in and thanks to Exped and Klean Kanteen for making those donations happen. A complete write-up will be posted here on the site later this week. The next local cleanup on the Ikkatsu Project calendar is on for Titlow Beach, June 29th… save the date and check back for more info as it gets closer.
