Watery Weekend Coming Up

When the Ikkatsu Project goes to southeast Alaska in the summer to survey and clean remote wilderness beaches, all of the operations are based out of the Cape Decision lighthouse on the southern tip of Kuiu Island. The staff and volunteers from the Cape Decision Lighthouse Society (CDLS) are an integral part of the successful trips we’ve made to the area already and we are hoping to continue the program for years to come. It’s a magical, beautiful place, bursting with wildlife and perfect for sea kayaking, the kind of a place that, once you’ve been there, you never really leave.

You can help sustain the lighthouse with a donation to CDLS in support of Team Merma-kin Good Time as they paddle in this year’s Seventy48 race from Tacoma to Port Townsend. Team members Jillian Kirschke and Marc Mahoney are paddling a 22-foot double sea kayak in this unique endurance event which gets underway on Friday, June 10th, 7pm, on the Foss Waterway in downtown Tacoma. Be there to cheer them on at the start or the finish, follow their progress online throughout the race and make a donation with the simple click of a button. Every gift helps and your contribution is gratefully appreciated.

Thank you!
