The Ikkatsu Project is focused on exploration, education and advocacy on behalf of ocean issues, especially the problem of plastic pollution in fresh and salt water. I don’t remember who it was now, but years ago I heard someone say that, if you want to change policies, at some point you’re going to need to talk to the folks who make them.

By traveling to DC (and Olympia, as well), virtually or IRL, we get to do just that, to talk with our lawmakers and provide them with the information they need to make the best decisions for the people and places they represent. By joining efforts with Surfrider, Blue Ocean and others, the experience and the results that the Ikkatsu Project has seen are even more exciting. It’s a rewarding process for the most part and we are pretty lucky to have representatives here in Washington state that see the value of a cleaner environment and vote accordingly. For the most part.
