Tide levels during the course of the day on Saturday will play a big part in selecting the best time to participate in this year’s Tacoma Shoreline Survey. The rule of thumb is that low tide is better than high tide, and that’s true for just about every location we’ll be covering. That dictum comes with some caveats, of course. They all do. High tide on Saturday isn’t particularly huge, so some beaches will be accessible from land all day. Other beaches that will be accessed by water might be just fine at higher levels, maybe even better.

The point is, you should know the time and the tide for where you’re going. If you’re in doubt, earlier in the day will probably be best, maybe plan on finishing by noon. Tide sites are all over the internet… you’ll be able to find one. The information above is pretty close for most, close enough for guv’mint work, yes? If you have any beach-specific questions or comments, give a call anytime.
