“My worst financial decision in 2020 was to buy a daily planner.” I saw that sentiment on a meme a few days back and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t strike a chord with me.

I didn’t actually buy a planner, but doing any kind of effective scheduling at this point is downright unrealistic. We don’t know what is coming next, it seems, on our way back to normal. There’s no real consensus about what “normal” even means in this context, which makes it all the more difficult to plan anything at all. Even so, there are decisions that still need to be made regarding the next few weeks, or months.

Look for updates on the South Kuiu Cleanup later this week. Likewise, an update on the Olympic Rivers microplastic study and fall programs is being prepared and should be done soon.

Postponing or cancelling programs and events is a difficult matter, on different levels. Even more problematic, however, is attempting to create and plan future programs and events, when the wider image of what that future is going to look like hasn’t yet come into focus.
