First I Drink the Coffee, Then I do the Things

The Tacoma Shoreline Survey is on the calendar for one week from today. The pieces are all coming together, more or less, and the response of volunteers has been awesome! Almost 100 registered to this point and I can already picture the positive impact that we are going to make on Tacoma’s beaches in a single day.

Support has come from organizations as well: Klean Kanteen, Werner Paddles, South Sound Surfrider, the City of Tacoma. And we just got the word that Caffé D’arte, an award-winning Seattle-based coffee roaster, will be providing a supply of burlap bags for beach walkers to use. (It has never made sense to me to collect plastic and put it into plastic in order to reduce the effects of plastic on the environment. The burlap bags will help greatly with this predicament, as will the reusable buckets that we will have for use at the Ruston Way location. If you have a bucket of your own, please bring it with you.)

If you haven’t signed up yet, today’s a good day to do it. It’s going to be a lot of fun and we’re looking forward to seeing you on the beach!
