Lab Time

Got into the lab at UPS this morning with Dr. Peter Hodum, long-time science advisor for the Ikkatsu Project and all-around good guy.

There are six samples that will be tested in triplicate processes, which will leave us with enough sample left at the end to run additional sets if there’s a need. We got the first two going this morning, measured and salted and placed into funnels or beakers. They’ll sit until they have settled, probably tomorrow or Sunday, then the remaining water will be run through a fine screen. What’s left will be looked through the microscope – here come some blurry eyes – and whatever plastic remains will be counted.

Science!
