2018; The B Side

Just like that, half the year is gone. It’s been a busy six months and it hardly seems like there’s been time enough to do what has been done, but there it is. I am sure the next six months will only pick up speed from here.

The pallets were shipped last week and should be arriving in Wrangell a few days before we do. Marc and I will get there on the ferry on Sunday evening, probably with just time enough to check into the hostel and get some sleep. Everyone else going on the first boat out is arriving by plane on Monday, and that’s looking like a busy day indeed. The logistics for the cleanup are daunting enough, but we also have to shop for meat, dairy and vegetables as well as break down the pallets and organize each item by which boat it is coming out on.

Our ride to the lighthouse is on July 10th, a pretty early departure out of Wrangell, I think. It will be a straight shot, hopefully in fine weather, and ideally we’ll be able to land ourselves and the initial load of supplies in the Gut, near the lighthouse. I expect it’s going to take some time to get all the gear moved to where it belongs and to get the lighthouse systems up and running.

I’ll be off the grid by that point. And happy to be there. I promise to take good notes.
