All About the Story

One of the things that came to mind for me last week in DC was the power of stories. Although we went to each Congressional meeting armed with facts and statistics, the parts of each meeting that were the most memorable and had the deepest effects were the stories we were able to tell. Stories about people and how the health of their environment made a difference, for good or ill, in their everyday lives. People want to hear about people.

“Shore Stories” is a collection of short pieces about real people whose lives will be affected if the current administration’s coastal plans become reality. The real story, of course, is that these decisions affect each and every one of us… viewing these vignettes can help us to see how true that is.

It’s free, it’s a joint presentation sponsored by UW Tacoma and South Sound Surfrider and it is another chance to get more information on what insanity looks like and what you can do to stop it. See you there!
