Graduation Day

Two years ago, I was lucky enough to be in the first cohort of the Surfrider Leadership Training program. It was a group of eight of us, a variety of different backgrounds, jobs and affiliations, but all on the same page as far as having a responsibility for the oceans in general, and the Washington coast in particular. It was good training and an excellent experience, and it has only gotten better as each year has carried on.

Tomorrow night I’ll be going to Port Angeles for the final presentation from this year’s group, the third group to go through. Part of the training is to work out a specific project that has relevance to marine environment, each participant taking a certain part of the effort, and then presenting the outcome as a group to the annual meeting of Washington State Marine Resource Committees (MRCs). I’m looking forward to hearing what this group has to say.

And then there’s a party after that.
