Oh Canada

Steve and I made the pre-dawn drive to Port Angeles this morning to catch the ferry for the early sailing to Victoria, BC. The Coho pulled out of its berth at 8:20am and by 10:00 we were through Canadian Customs and on the street in the “City of Gardens.” Within a few short minutes, we were met by Nick Horscroft, of Seaward Kayaks, who had driven down from Chemainus with a pair of matching orange/ivory Quest X 3’s, boats that we’ll be taking to Alaska in a couple months. Beautiful kayaks, made in Canada (and made very well), and ideal for the work we’re going to be doing… Thanks Seaward!

We caught the 4:00pm sailing back to PA, then schlepped the 90-minute drive out to Neah Bay, where we’re happily ensconced in the NOAA trailer tonight, out of the weather, getting ready for this weekend’s beach cleanup. Now, however, it’s been a long day and bed is looking pretty good…

Real good.
