Outbound

Charging the cameras, packing the bags. This upcoming trip to the Olympic coast is going to be a quick one (4 days), but I expect it’s going to be challenging. Any time you break surf with a loaded boat is a challenge, and there’s going to be a fair bit of hiking involved as well.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAMarc and I are going to start with a 2-day paddle out to a few small and very isolated beaches that I haven’t been to in at least 5 years. They are hard to get to and I don’t think they ever get cleaned, so I imagine we’ll come across a fair bit of debris there. After this segment of the trip is done, I’m heading out into the maze of logging roads north of La Push to find the overland route to the Norwegian Memorial. (It’s not a secret, I know. It’s just a secret to me.) I’d like to do a full survey at the beach there on Friday, just to get an idea of what’s there, before the Coastal Cleanup the next day.

There is the expectation of good photos and usable footage… it’s an incredibly photogenic place. I’m also going to be attempting the first Ikkatsu podcast, based on the recordings I do over the next few days. If all goes well, I’ll put it out as soon as I can; if you never hear anything else about it, it means it didn’t go well. Time will tell.
