At the Surfrider Cascadia conference here in Long Beach for the weekend. I am always impressed by the level of expertise and different perspectives that come together at these things. We went on a field trip yesterday to Cape Disappointment and got the chance to learn about the Columbia River plume and shoreline deposition. Pretty amazing stuff, actually.

This is my last one for a while as a member of the chapter Executive Committee, but I expect I will be back in a less responsible position (if that’s possible). Surfrider is an amazingly effective and smart organization and a the support runs both ways; the financial contributions from local chapters have been a big part of the Ikkatsu Project’s success over several expeditions and I am hopeful that this relationship will continue on into the future.
