Out for a family breakfast this morning and then on the road… the weather is supposed to be good this weekend out in Westport and I think we’re all looking forward to the surf van gathering out at Todd Fischer’s gallery at the beach.

Then, next week, there’s a meeting of the Sustainable Tacoma Commission (I was just appointed a few weeks ago and this will be my first actual meeting as a member), and a Surfrider meeting on Thursday that will be an important step toward eliminating plastic bags here in our community. It will be at the Tacoma Cabana – best mai-tais in town – and a chance to do something positive for your community. More on this next week but whether you’re a member or not, mark it on your calendar and come on out.

Then Chris, an old friend and former fellow employee at Backpacker’s Supply, is going to be here for a day or so. He’s living the life of leisure, surfing a lot and writing and filming as part of the Peanut Butter Coast. Or somethinphotog like that. At least, I think it’s something like that. It does look like a good life though.

After that, I’ve got this year’s trip leader sea kayak training out at Camp Seymour. It sounds like it’s going to be a big group this year. I’ll be doing most of the planning for that next week, in between the rest of the duties and obligations. And, on June 21st, there’s a beach cleanup in the morning and the International Surfing Day open house at the Swiss. It’s hosted by the local Surfrider chapter and they’re showing Endless Summer with a free drawing for cool stuff. Suitable for all ages.

Also, I’ve been thinking it might be cool to do a beach cleanup on the 5th of July. Anybody interested?
